What does Meta Ads cost?

Short answer
Meta Ads has no fixed price. The bulk of the cost is your own ad budget, paying for impressions and clicks. On top come management, creative and tooling. What counts isn't the number, but whether every ad euro delivers positive contribution margin.
01What the price covers
The price of Meta Ads is mainly your own ad budget, paying to reach people (CPM) and for clicks (CPC). You set the budget yourself, and there's no fixed minimum. CPM swings with competition, season and audience — but it's rarely CPM alone that decides the economics.
On top of media spend sit three line items that often get overlooked: creative (Meta is a creative-driven channel, and production costs money), tracking (server-side setup and tooling) and management. Creative and data quality are typically what move the needle most — not the budget itself.

02Budget should follow profit, not the other way around
The wrong question is “how much should I spend?”. The right one is “how much can I spend profitably?”. As long as blended efficiency (MER) holds as you scale, the budget can grow. If MER drops, you've hit the ceiling on what pays off right now.
So a Meta budget shouldn't be a fixed number, but a result of the economics: contribution margin, break-even, creative pipeline and how much new demand you can create profitably. Without that foundation, any budget is a guess.
Frequently asked questions
What's the minimum budget for Meta Ads?+
There's no official minimum, but the algorithm needs enough conversions (roughly 50 per ad set per week) to exit the learning phase. Too small a budget means unstable delivery — so in practice there's a floor below which it won't start performing.
Should I count creative in what Meta costs?+
Yes. Meta is a creative-driven channel, and a steady stream of new ads is what keeps a scaling account alive. Creative production (and tracking) belong in the total maths, not just the media budget.

What does performance marketing cost?
Performance marketing costs three things: media budget (the biggest item, paid to the platforms), management (in-house, freelancer or partner) and tech (tracking, tooling). There's no fixed price — what counts is whether the whole effort pays for itself on the bottom line.
